The Entrance Long Jetty RSL Sub-Branch was formed in 1928 and has been one of the leading sub-Branch’s on the Central Coast of NSW ever since. Our Sub-Branch owned the licensed club, Tuggerah Lakes Memorial Club until 1989. We are now self funded and are here to provide assistance to and for the benefit of our members and the general community

Some of the services we provide to our members are and not limited to:

  1. Permanent Staff consisting of one Administration Manager who is in constant contact with our members
  2. Three fully accredited volunteer DVA Pension Officers who are on call to assist with any disability, service pension and war widow claims.
  3. Three DVA accredited volunteer Welfare Officers who visit the sick and elderly in hospitals, nursing homes and their private dwellings. These Welfare Officers also assist the grieving families with funeral services.
  4. Volunteer members from our Women’s Auxiliary are supplied with tissues and marshmallows from the sub-Branch to distribute on visits to nursing homes within our district.

In the late 1920’s our Cenotaph was erected at Memorial Park, The Entrance.

Over the years our Sub-Branch has covered all costs involved with the upkeep and maintenance of the Cenotaph including the gardens, lighting and surrounds.

We formed our own Day Club in 1978 and is still going strong today. We have five volunteers looking after the socially isolated at our Community Centre.

In 1979 the sub-Branch purchased land and built a 40 bed nursing home which we owned and operated successfully for 20 years looking after the ex-service men and women in their later years. With Laws changing and the age of our Management Team, in 2001 the facility was sold but we have kept a strong and close association with the aged care facility so much so that three new extensions are named after Military events.

In 1990 we established a Military Museum/Library which is visited by bus tours, schools, cubs/scouts and the general public on a daily basis. This is manned by volunteers and is open five days a week at no charge.

The present Management Committee is comprised of members having served after Korea.

Anzac Day

Our Anzac Day Service is one of the largest on the Central Coast with up to 5,000 attending the Dawn Service and many more attending the Main Service each year.

In our community, we support and visit the local schools with their Anzac Day ceremonies in which the Sub-Branch has built sandstone memorials (at no cost to the school) so that students have a permanent place for their services. Senior students are invited each year to present the main address on Anzac Day. Also we financially support our local Army Cadets, Navy Cadets, Naval Association, National Servicemen’s Association, War Widows Guild, Women’s Auxiliary, Legacy Guild and many other organisations within our community.

This Sub-Branch has continuously investigated ways and means of providing and improving benefits and services to our members and members of the community and will continue to do so long into the future.
